When I went down to David Livingstone Memorial Primary to pick up the girls this afternoon, there were still fire engines and a police van outside the house of the Schiavo family on Devondale Avenue. (STV News link)

My heart goes out to Alessandro who lost his wife, Shirley, and young daughter, Taylor, in the blaze last night.

Arms have nothing to hold,
memories of smells and sounds are fading.
O Lord, be with all who despair and grieve.

The bed is empty,
the lullaby plays to a vacant space.
O Lord, be with all who despair and grieve.

The ache inside is overwhelming,
the truth of what has happened cannot be faced.
O Lord, be with all who despair and grieve.

There seem no answers to 'Why'?
just a void of silence.
O Lord, be with all who despair and grieve.

Wrap them in your loving embrace,
send people to walk this hard road with them,

and in time bring them to a place of peace.

Amen.
