As a member of the Communications Group of the Church of Scotland, I had been able to get a sneak preview a couple of weeks ago of the new functioning website for the Church of Scotland and had been keeping up-to-date with its development over the last couple of years. It is great to see that now the site has finally gone live for the public too. It is a vast improvement on the previous labyrinthine website. [There's more...] It took far longer than anyone anticipated to get the new website up and running partly because the transition was from an old-fashioned "flat" website to a content management database system much like what lies behind this site. It meant that the thousands upon thousands of pages of information had to be reorganised and inserted into the new system. The other factor was the sheer size of the site and the limited resources available to handle the transition. So, congratulations to the small team for getting the new site working. I'm looking forward to using it and hopefully finding the information I need more quickly and intuitively than was the case in the past. For a body such as the Church of Scotland an active website is ever more important in helping to communicate what is happening in and across the many parts of the church. Have a look yourselves and see what you think. I'll be interested to hear any feedback. I have a meeting of the Communications Group on Monday so any feedback can be quickly passed on!

What's the story at Dalamory Looks crisp, clean and up to date. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have the Acts (of the Assembly!) on the site, fully searchable? Still, I suppose that is too costly by far. |

Contacts Is there going to be a 'find your local church' section? That seems to be a bit of a crucial one to miss out. |
