Over the weekend I finished working on the next pilot resource book for Spill the Beans containing resources and ideas for worship and age-groups for the Sundays of Lent 2011, including Palm Sunday and Easter Day. This was one of the reasons I had asked Lynette Jardine to take the service this Sunday, though I have to say it was nice to be able to join the Sunday Funday Club and, very briefly, the Breakfast Club on Sunday too - a rare chance! Spill the Beans is looking good and has kept as its key ethos the power of telling stories of faith. The focus during Lent is on the Old Testament stories from the lectionary ranging from Adam and Eve, through the wilderness, Abram's call and David's annointing before we join Ezekiel in his amazing vision of 'dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones...' Regular readers may remember that we ran an initial pilot in 2010 and learnt a lot from that, the lessons from which the team hope are represented in the new pilot booklet. It is nearly ready to distribute to congregations that want to have a look and use it - we're just doing a final round of proofing. We're going to be, once again, looking for congregations to try it out and give us feedback on how they used the materials, so let me or Roddy Hamilton at Abbotsford Parish Church know if you want to do that.

... Peter, would this lend itself to use in primary school? Not as a big 'event' thing, obviously, but as a story-based lead-up to Easter. |
