My Golden Rule cards

Tonight at Cosy Café Sundays the theme was "Rules". So, light stuff then! Over this session leading up to Easter we've been looking at issues that we all face in life, including friendship, trust, and temptations; our last Cosy Café before Easter will look at ambition. But tonight it was "rules". What are rules for? What is good about them? What is bad? When is it okay to break a rule? And when you are confronted with hundred and thousands of rules, as were the Jewish people in Jesus' time, then how can you judge whether a rule is worth following or ignoring?

Don't think we tackle challenging issues in our youth programmes? Think again!

The final action of the night before we returned to hot chocolate and pancakes (oh, yes, pancakes again!) was for everyone in pairs to come up with their "rule to rule all other rules" - their Golden Rule. We had great suggestions, some of which you can see above. And two of these suggestions hit almost perfectly Jesus' own description of the Golden Rule: "Do unto others what you would have them do to you."
