My heart goes out to all the people in England whose livelihoods (and, in a few cases, lives) have been taken away from them as a result of the ghastly rioting and looting. It has been a truly depressing week to watch on the news.

However, I did, I confess, laugh heartily when I saw this video of rioting in Edinburgh.

Lest we feel superior in Scotland for our lack of rioting, I was reminded by a friend last night that there is a simple reason for that... rain!

I hand over to my friend, Liz Crumlish, for her thoughts on what has been happening this week. Like Liz, I have been very uncomfortable with some of the language our polticians have been using over the past week.
