A fun night was held on Friday night at Carrigan's in Eddlewood to celebrate 20 years of ministry by Karen Harbison at Trinity Parish Church. She has now almost doubled the previous longest stay of a minister there! It was good to join with many of the members of Trinity Parish Church as they celebrated with Karen. I was sitting next to one older chap resident in a nursing home in the parish of Trinity who waxed eloquently on how much he appreciated the worship services Karen leads in the nursing home. An appreciation that was clear from all the folks gathered there last night. Having worked closely with Karen all last week as we ran workshops at Calderside Academy (more on that in a later post) it is an appreciation I share too for her enthusiasm, creativity and sheer hard work. It's nice to be able to share in these moments, because sometimes ministry can be a rather lonely vocation. We ministers spend a lot of time supporting and encouraging others, but we too need encouragement and support in our ministries. [Apologies for the ropey picture! Not up to my usual standards, but alas very little light and only my phone at hand!}
