The purpose of the Magnification Action Group is to develop the worship life of the congregation.

The remit includes:

• encouraging participation in worship services by church members;
• planning special services, e.g. Magnify Joint Praise Service;
• developing ways to promote worship at times other than Sunday morning;
• planning a service with the minister on a regular basis;
• arranging pulpit supply for the minister;
• developing the use of drama;
• developing alternative forms of worship, e.g. the labyrinth reflective space;
• organising the reader's rota;
• encouraging musical involvement;
• developing participation of children and youth in worship;
• ensuring resources for worship are available;
• coordinating arrangements for the Sacrament of Communion;
• ensuring the sound and vision equipment is suitable, in liaison with Material Action Group.

The purpose of the Membership Action Group is to develop fellowship within all ages of the congregation.

The remit for this group includes:

• organising fellowship events for the congregation;
• oversight of the Sunday Funday Club and IQ Group;
• ensuring a regular Church Membership course is available for new attenders;
• oversight of the Bereavement Care and GriefShare pastoral programmes;
• providing pastoral care to the minister and his/her family;
• keeping oversight of the church roll;
• ensuring the Grapevine church magazine is regularly produced;
• developing small groups for fellowship;
• seeking advice where necessary from outside sources, e.g. presbytery advisers;
• oversight and encouragement of Tuesday Tea Room;
• organising fellowship events for the congregation;
• baptismal follow-up.

The purpose of the Maturity Action Group is to develop discipleship in the lives of members of the congregation.

The remit for this group includes:

• encouraging the uptake of discipleship courses such as Emmaus;
• leading people into a deeper spiritual commitment;
• helping members see the importance of the 'spiritual' in daily living;
• encouraging and providing opportunities for the development of a prayer life;
• promoting good habits and practices for personal growth as a Christian;
• promoting Christian education and discussion, e.g. through Living the Questions, or through presbytery courses;
• developing small groups;
• encouraging awareness of justice and peace issues;
• considering the Christian response to local, national and international concerns;
• developing resources for church members to grow in their spiritual journey, e.g. books, DVDs;
• seeking advice from resources such as the presbytery Congregational Development Officer and Adult Education Team when required.

The purpose of the Ministry Action Group is to develop each church member's ministry and service to God.

The remit for this group includes:

• encouraging church members to find what their own gifts and talents are;
• promoting awareness of the different ministry opportunities in St Andrew's;
• identifying through active liaison with other Action Groups and the Coordinating Group where there are new opportunities for service; 
• helping people to find ways to serve Christ in the church, parish, home and workplace;
• taking a lead in organising the programme for Building on God's Generosity: Talent
• utilising and promoting the training courses provided by presbytery.

The purpose of the Mission Action Group is to develop outreach strategies to the community and to promote Christian action in the world.

Note that the members of this Action Group have been supporting the Maturity Action Group in order to build that work initially.

The remit for this group includes:

• implementing ways of bringing both new people and inactive church members into active church life (with other Action Groups and in partnership with other churches when appropriate);
• utilising available resources and promoting courses run by presbytery that will assist with outreach;
• being aware of what other churches are doing in this field; 
• offering opportunities for people to learn good ways of sharing their faith;
• promoting the work of St Andrew's in the wider community;
• encouraging regular communication with the parish, e.g. Christmas and Easter cards;
• facilitating cooperation between churches ecumenically, promoting understanding of other religions;
• organising of parish visitations or visits to new homes;
• developing groups fo those interested in faith, e.g. Christianity Explored or Living the Questions.

The purpose of the Money Action Group is to provide the financial wherewithal to support the other Action Groups in their work.

The remit for this group includes:

• overseeing St Andrew's finances (income, expenditure, budgets, forecasts for the Kirk Session);
• oversight of the work of the Treasurer, providing support when needed;
• bringing to Kirk Session recommendations on auditing; 
• preparing the accounts for the Annual Report in good time;
• nominating someone to serve as Treasurer should this post fall vacant;
• organising rota for welcome and offering at Sunday worship;
• notifying Kirk Session of any changes to payments due to central church and presbytery;
• assisting each Action Group in the development of their own budgets, providing regular updates of expenditure;
• seeking ways to fund special projects either from within the church or from outside sources;
• playing a lead role in the ongoing development of financial stewardship within the congregation, keeping the congregation informed about our Christian giving and spending within St Andrew's and the wider church;
• leading the Building on God's Generosity: Money programme
• taking advice from national advisers when necessary.

The purpose of the Material Action Group is to maintain and develop St Andrew's buildings in order to enable the work of the other Action Groups.

The remit for this group includes:

• creating a positive environment for current and possible future church uses;
• developing a clear programme of maintenance and renewal of the church fabric with timeline of actions and budget estimates;
• ensuring that all work over a budget of £1,000 is supported by three quotations; 
• budgeting the work programme to stay within the discretionary annual budget of £5,000, and to seek approval from the Kirk Session for any overspends;
• frequent liaison with the Money Action Group over budgeting and timing for work;
• laising with presbytery for building surveys and to ensure a valuation is carried out every five years;
• seeking presbytery approval for all work over £5,000;
• ensuring insurance cover is adequate for all buildings;
• liaising with groups who let the buildings to ensure that reasonable requirements are satisfied;
• ensuring that all buildings and surrounding area complies with legislation as required, e.g. Health and Safety, Disability, etc.;
• overseeing special building and fabric projects as requested by the Kirk Session;
• active liaison with other Action Groups to determine needs and requirements.
