Weekly Prayer 38; 16th September 2012 PDF Print E-mail

Gracious Heavenly Father draw us near to you as we bring

our prayers to you this day.

We pray that we will make this a quiet and Holy time, a true

dedication to you with out any distractions.

We worship and adore you bringing our love for you, together

with our humble thanks.

We never fail to be amazed by your gifts to us and sometimes

we can hardly take it all in.

The wonders of nature in their splendid autumn colours, the  birds

whose songs are so clear and vibrant, the rivers whose sparkling

waters run through the glens and out to the distant seaways.

The sky at night in inky darkness, with twinkling stars like a

backdrop to a wonderful occasion. Father we thank you.

We pray Lord that you will  be with, and help all who are suffering

from the ravages of war. To be taken by your family, from your home

into a foreign land, hoping to be safe, is so frightening.

Children  who know nothing but war and fighting, families who are

split up and loved ones killed or maimed. Be with them all Father

as we remember them.

We pray now for our family and friends, that you will keep them safe

and free from harm.  These prayers are asked in Jesus name,    Amen.

Friends!        What would we do without them?

What would we do without them Heavenly Father.

We pray that we may never lose a friend because of

anything we may say or do. Friends are the most

important people in the day to day running of our lives.

“What a friend we have in Jesus” says the old hymn and

how true that really is,  Jesus helps us sort out the spiritual

side of our lives. Knowing this we realise just how much

we have to learn from him and we pray that with your help

we can do just that.

We also pray that our friends know how special they are to us.

We can learn so much especially with new ideas and of course

with love.

We pray that when we are together with our friends, the fun,

the laughter and love all flow seamlessly round the room from

person to person making us all better people.

One of the sayings we use is by John Lennon and how appropriate

it is;

“Count your age by friends   not years

Count your life by smiles     not tears”.

Whilst praying Gracious God we thank you for the gift of

Friendship and we ask you to accept these prayers as they

are brought to you by our friend the Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.

We pray to you O Lord of our being, throned afar

We love you and thank you for all the love you show

to us.  We cannot comprehend the depth of your love

but we are ever grateful for it.

In praying to you we are showing our abiding love

for you. We know your plans for us are set, but we must

try to live up to your expectations. Help us Lord if we

fall by the wayside.

We know God that you value every one of us and know

our true worth. We pray that we ourselves can bring that

worth to the centre of our being and worship you with joy

and gladness.

Worshipping you O Lord is the best part of our lives.

It needn’t be solemn and sober. It can be happy, joyful

and exciting . Exciting might not be the word you expect

from us Father but how boring if everything

( including prayers) was always the same.

We bring our prayers to you with love, through Jesus

our lord and master Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father hear your children when we call

and answer our prayers if it is in your plans to do so.

We thank you for everything you give us, from the

smallest gift to the biggest miracle, all are given freely

by you to your children.

During the coming week Lord help us to ask the Holy

Spirit to enter our lives that we may live in your grace.

With you all things are possible and we pray that

worshipping you wholeheartedly will make each day

so fulfilling. We pray that this will come to pass.

We thank you for the rain which sometimes falls in

abundance but makes our countryside a greener place.

We thank you for the sun which brings us warmth and

allows our crops to grow and flourish.

We also remember the moon and stars lighting up the

darkness and keeping us safe. These wonders, made by

you and given to all of us to enhance our world.

We pray Almighty God that you will accept our humble

prayers and thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

Gracious God our souls cry out to you in prayer.

We need your presence in our lives and its very difficult

to try to do everything ourselves.

Actually we know we cannot do everything and its wrong

for us to try, we pray Lord that by asking you, it will

please you more than our feeble futile attempts.

We pray Heavenly Father that you will give us patience;

patience to listen, many people do not have family and they

are burdened with decisions and need to speak to a friend.

Do not let us brush them off with indifference but spend

some time speaking with them.

We pray Lord that this week we will be able to spend

more time in prayer with you. Not a specific, on your

knees five minutes, but a real conversation with you our

friend and counsellor, relaxed and comfortable any time,

any place.

As the summer passes the children and young people go

back to school and college, we ask you Lord to help them

in all their work and we hope they keep you in their hearts

These things we ask in Jesus name     Amen.

Dear God our Heavenly Father,

Please be with us as we start this new week

We appreciate that all our earthly bounty

comes from you  and is never ending.

Although we always like the warm sunny weather

we know that into our lives some rain must fall.

So Gracious God let us realise that we ourselves

must make that sunshine  Smile Smile and Smile again

Let laughter ring out, light up someone’s life.

Spread happiness as Jesus did when he was here on earth.

Joy radiated from him and all who knew him were blessed.

We who would be called the children of God must make

sure everyone around us is aware of our happiness at

being in God’s world.

In Jesus name and for his sake  Amen.

Oh Lord our Heavenly Father bless us we pray.

We thank you God that we have found not only

benefit in prayer, but with your answers we have

been greatly enriched.

We ask for forgiveness for all our sins but more

importantly we hope we can forgive others who

sin against us.

We pray Father that we will always remember how

forgiving you are and that we must learn to do

likewise.

You give us everything and we thank you, but also

we must give to those who do not have anything.

As Jesus said “when you give to the

poorest of the poor you are giving to me”.

We pray loving God that during the coming week

we will be able to help out in many ways, with

a word, a smile, a hug, a helping hand, or even by

just being there.

We love you Heavenly Father and we hope that

you are happy with all we do in your name.

We ask that you will accept these things in Jesus name

AMEN

Almighty God our Heavenly Father we come before you

this week in humble adoration.

We ask you to bless all who are involved in the Olympic

Games.

May your light shine upon them one and all.

They have trained month after weary month but for many

there is only disappointment. We pray that you will be there

to sustain all those who do not win as we know they have

done their best and we cannot ask for more.

We pray Father and we kneel down before you.

we know we can pray anywhere, anytime, sitting, standing,

on the bus, in the car, travelling by train. Sometimes only

falling to our knees will do

When that moment of silence comes to us we forget all else

and we glory in our time with you.

We praise your name and our hearts are filled with joy and

happiness just speaking with  you, our Father.

As always our prayers come to you through Jesus our Lord

and saviour and your beloved son. Amen.

Weekly Prayer 30 ; 22nd July 2012. PDF Print E-mail

We thank you Heavenly Father for all the generosity and

love we receive  from you each day. You give us everything

we need, and more, for this we thank you wholeheartedly

and we hope we can be worthy of you.

We pray for all our friends who are ill and ask you Father if

you will give them the strength to cope with whatever is wrong.

Also we need them to know just how much we love them.

In praying to you Lord we can bring all our worries to you

as the hymn says

Ask the saviour to help you, comfort strengthen

and keep you , he is willing to aid you, he will

         carry you through .

May we gain solace and peace knowing that all is in your hands.

Across your vast and diverse world many things are not going

well and we have strife and famine. Those of us who have enough

try to do as much as we can but there are always new demands

made on our scant resources .Help us Father, to be wise in our choice

of giving so that it can be of real value and assistance.

We pray Almighty God that you will look down on us with favour

and that we will do as you require us to do. We ask all this through

Jesus Christ your son and our Lord for ever and ever  Amen.

Please dear father we pray you will give us the strength

to see more clearly the way of goodness and help to turn

away from sin, in the coming week let us think more of

your plan for us. A new week , new hope.

We know that our prayers are a joy to you and that you long

to hear from us. We want to speak with you so much and

we  know you are eager to hear our grateful thanks.

We delight in our relationship with you.

In praying to you we ask that you will be our helper and

redeemer because we often fail you. We fail because we

are weak and foolish ,please Lord help us at all times.

Dearest Father we thank you for never forsaking us and

for giving us Jesus whose wonderful legacy is his teaching

and example, we pray we will make a difference in our lives

this week.

We ask all these things through Jesus our saviour    Amen
